Quick Fix Beauty Tips

Quick beauty fixes are so helpful when you are on the run! Here are a few tips that might make your day a little easier in prepping and up-keep for your busy week.

What do you think? Let me know thoughts!

Ways to fix the hair do:

  • Hairspray bobby pins and then place into the areas that need help.
  • Use baby powder and a brush on greasy tresses when you don’t have travel dry shampoo.
  • An old toothbrush with some hairspray will comb away flyaway hairs.

  • Day to night make-up: Add a deep colored lip (red or purple) or thick eyeliner with a copper shadow OR for a dramatic look keep eye shadow neutral with a thick black liner and add a red lip.

  • De-grease your face while running from meeting to meeting: If you have run out of oil blotters, take a toilet seat cover (the sheet on the wall in a public bathroom) and blot quickly- it works I swear! If there is time, swipe on some matte finish powder and you’re perfect!

  • Manicure fix: Chipped a nail? No problem… buff the nail use polish to fill in the chip, let dry and then cover with a quick dry top coat (over the entire nail).
  • How to make your nails White (again): Make a paste using 1 tbsp peroxide and 2 1/4 tbsp baking soda. Let this paste sit on your nails for 5 minutes and voila! White nails! **REMEMBER THIS AFTER USING GREEN, BLUE or BLACK NAIL POLISH!**

  • Self-tanning accident: Use an astringent toner or toothpaste to remove the excess solution on your body.

Keep it Classy—even when you only have 15 minutes!

Picture this! It’s an insane week, you have a late night event for a client, after a successful evening, you head home around midnight, do last night edits to your presentation for your 8 a.m. meeting and pass out with your make-up still on around 2 a.m. You wake in a panic and have 15 minutes to catch the bus into NYC! For most of us girls, we go into panic mode running from bedroom to bathroom to bedroom. We put on unmatched clothing, go natural or  with make-up last night, hair a wreck, and ultimately we just looked frazzled. I have over slept a number of times in my day to know how to handle these situations.

Follow these steps and you will most likely always be on time to work, while looking like you received your full eight hours!

Step 1: Stop, take a breath, gain composure and then go into corporate attack mode. Head to the kitchen and turn on your coffee pot, i.e. Keurig machine and prep your travel mug for coffee. (If you don’t have a Keurig Coffeemaker as a professional working woman, you have already lost the WAR.) 1 minute

Step 2:  Get to the bathroom.

  • Brush your teeth.1 minute
  • Use a make-up wipe like Neutrogena to remove old make-up and wash your face. 1 minute
  • Brush your hair and put into a ponytail, wrap hair around the base of the ponytail and bobby pin into a bun. NOTE: If your hair isn’t cooperating, do a part and put it into a low ponytail. 2 minutes
  •  Blend concealer under your eyes, brush on powder foundation, apply mascara. 2 minute

Step 3: Get dressed! Grab your basic color suit, button down shirt or shell, statement necklace/basic earrings and black flats and pumps. Put on your outfit with the flats and throw necklace and pumps into your bag. You will be running to catch the bus. (My go-to is my black suit, white button-down, turquoise necklace, Tiffany’s silver ball studs and my black pumps. It’s simple, chic and easy! No matching necessary!) 5 minutes TOPS!

Step 4: Pack your Bag! Put all necessary items into your purse, i.e. cell phone, laptop, pumps, jewelry, make-up, work materials, breakfast bar, etc. 2 minutes

Step 5: Pour coffee, grab your coat and you’re out the door! 1 minute

Once you’re on the bus, take your seat, and catch your breath. Put on your jewelry, check your makeup and add a bright colored gloss and then give yourself kudos for getting out on time! This is a skill that I have perfected over the years. Everyone has a different morning regimen. I cannot function without coffee in the morning; therefore it is the first thought upon waking up. I insist you take this guide and adapt it to your own unique morning routine when the event arises that you oversleep! I have also learned that being organized is extremely helpful when these types of events occur! Good Luck!
